She looked at him, and this time he felt the power of her steady gray

gaze. "Won't I?" she asked.

"No," he responded, considerably, truth be told, more emphatically than

he felt. "You won't."

"Have you taken leave of your senses?" Justine demanded when Addie found

her in the little conservatory where she was tinkering with her roses

despite the fact that given the season, there was not a bloom in sight.

"You have, haven't you?"

Addie sighed. "Likely yes."

"Well, you must have." Justine peeled off the gloves she used when

gardening. "How on earth do you propose to manage to teach Fitzwilliam

to box?" she asked, setting them down on a table.
